Engaging research partners is essential in order to ensure the repository does not remain virtually empty after launch and that the repository is used in the current research workflow.
Remote research institutions or divisions can deposit items, harvest items or receive alerts for new items on the institutional repository.
Basically third parties can "pull/harvest" items from the repository using the OAI-PMH and OAI-ORE services and third parties can "deposit/submit" items using the SWORD service.
