View Printing Balances

Students are required to access the User Administration site to manage their printing account:

  • Click "Sign on" and enter your username and password when prompted.
  • Choose View Printing Balances.
  • Available balance shows the amount that is actually available for printing.
  • Reserved balance shows the amount currently reserved by a printer. When you release a document for printing the printer reserves all money balances until the document has finished printing. If for some reason the printing does not finish the balance might stay reserved for some time during which time you might not be able to print, resulting in printer fault a message "Credits too low". Eventually the printer should release the credits again after which you should be able to print, if not, contact IT service support. to release your Reserved balance.


Load Printing Money

  • Choose Load Printing Money from Student Account.

Note: Printing requests will not be loaded immediately, but you will receive an e-mail confirmation upon activation.


Cashless payment via SnapScan in-app

  • You can buy quotas via SnapScan.
  • Instructions to pay via SnapScan can be found here




How do I print?

Print from a computer/laptop

  • Select the print function from your application. Note: The default setting on the print server is double-sided (duplex) and in Black & White. For Colour print the user needs to change printer option from gray scale to Colour.'
  • Select the correct printer from the list of printers, e.g,: i) STB_PRINT_Q01 on stbsc01.stb.sun.ac.za (Stellenbosch campus students); OR TYG_PRINT_Q05 on stbsc01.stb.sun.ac.za (Tygerbergcampus students)
  • Ensure the proper print options (double-sided or one-sided) are selected for your print job. (The default setting on print server is double-sided).
  • Press the "Print" or "OK" button etc to send your print job to the campus print server.
  • Wait for a pop-up message that will notify you that your print job has been processed on the server for printing later.


How to release your print jobs at the printer

  • Go to the nearest library SAFECOM printer and swipe your SU Student Card to release your documents for print.


How to login to a printer manually at a printer (If you do not have your student card with you)

  • Press Sign in
  • First press the Setting icon (icon on the top, far left handside)
  • Select from the drop down menu the Safecom option. The "Domain" option will display sbt.
  • Type in your Username and Password.




PRINTING TIPS!

How to print ONE sided

  • Select Print
  • Click on Properties (Top left corner of the print box)
  • Click Finishing
  • Untick: Print both sides
  • Select OK
  • Select OK


How to print in COLOR

  • Select Print
  • Click on Properties (Top left corner of the print box)'
  • Under the 'Color tab', untick Grey scale option


Printing costs?

The University's Printing fees may change though out the year. It is updated and available on the University's IT Service catalogue.

  • If you experience a problem to print a online document, Download and Save the document which you want to print on your own sunstorage network space or to your Flashdisk, and Open from the Saved location and click the Print option.
