DSpace 1.5.2 installation using Ubuntu 8.04.3
The following wiki pages describe the procedures to install a "vanilla" DSpace instance using an Ubuntu 8.04 LTS server.
It is vitally essential to follow the steps by number as shown below.
Step 1: Install Ubuntu
Click on the heading above.
Step 2: Prepare Ubuntu
Click on the heading above.
Step 3: Install DSpace 1.5.2
Click on the heading above.
Step 4: Upgrade to DSpace 1.6.X
Click on the heading above.
Warning:
If you use the above procedures to setup a production machine open to the Internet, then ensure the following.
- Change ALL instances of the default "dspace" password to a very secure secret password.
- Change ALL instances of the default "dspace" username to another username, except for the main Ubuntu "dspace" account created during the server installation.
