DSpace and Ubuntu require a certain amount of expert support for long term sustainability. Persons with the following skills are desirable:

- Web 2.0 design with XML skills
- SQL programming skills
- Java programming skills
- Expert with an open source software development system
- Expert with an open source software versioning system
- Familiarity with the LAMP stack
- Familiarity with the Java Tomcat server
- For system administration
- Ubuntu Linux
- BASH programming skills
- TCP/IP networking skills
- Expert with the LAMP stack
- Expert with the Java Tomcat server
- Familiarity with a major vendors server hardware
- Familiarity with a major vendors networking hardware
