- Check if your requested print jobs are in the Safecom print queue
Log onto: https://stbprint.sun.ac.za/safecom/
- Click on: Pending print job - to view list of your pending print jobs for release at a Safecom printer.
- How to view your available printing balance amount
Log onto: https://stbprint.sun.ac.za/safecom/
- Click on: Transactions - to check your print balance, reserved credits or print transactions.

- Printing credits requests via SUNStudent
Log onto SUNStudent: https://student.sun.ac.za
- On the left side of the screen select: Requests
- In the opened window, click on: All Requests (*Note: Your previously raised print credits requests amount can be viewed in the top half of the All Requests screen).
- For a new print credits request, click on the button: Raise Request
- In the pop-up window, click on: Printing Quota
- On the General Request screen, select Printing Services in the Request Category field.
- Enter an Amount for printing services and click on Upload & Submit
- In the Documents screen that opens, click on: Save.
A successful service request for printing will reflect on your student account.
IMPORTANT: If you cannot load printing credits from your student account, top up with prepaid print credits via SnapScan.
- Printing credits top-up via SnapScan
Snapscan is a mobile application that enables cashless payments.
- The SnapScan Prepaid feature offers students the ability to purchase prepaid services (printing credits, laundry quota or meals) and to top-up their student accounts.
- Download SnapScan - press PREPAID, select Prepaid UNIVERSITY, enter your student number and amount for credits.
- Cannot print or printing balances under 'Reserved?

- You will receive an e-mail confirmation once your reserved print credits have been successfully reset and are available again on your student account.
To prevent 'Reserved' print credits: After tapping your student card on the printer's card reader, make sure you are LOGGED OUT before you tab at another printer to release your pending print jobs.
How do I print?
Print from a computer
- Sign-On to any network computer in the library with your SU campus Username (e.g 12345678) and Password.
- Once successfully login in, select the print function from your application.
- Select the correct printer from the list of printers, e.g,: i) STB_PRINT_Q01 on stbsc03.stb.sun.ac.za or STB_PRINT_Q01 on stbsc05.stb.sun.ac.za
- Ensure the proper print options (double-sided or one-sided) are selected for your print job. (The default setting on print server is double-sided).
- Press the "Print" or "OK" button to send your print job to the campus print server.
*Check if your print jobs are in the queue ready for printing BEFORE you go to the printer:

How to release your print jobs at a printer with your Student Card
- TAB your student card on the printer card reader.
- WAIT for your NAME to appear on the e printer screen once.
- Press: Pull Print
- Press: Print all"
- Or, select document/s and press: Print
IMPORTANT: Always SIGN OUT! Press the HOME icon and SIGN OUT before attempting to sign in to another printer. Otherwise, your print credits will be Reserved!
Printing costs?
The University's Printing fees is available on the University's IT Service catalogue.
If you do not have your Student Card, login manually at a printer
- Go to the nearest library SAFECOM printer.
- Press the 'home' button to active the printer screen.
- First press the Setting icon (icon on the top, far left hand side) and change the 'Local Drive' setting to ' Safecom '
- The 'Sign in' screen will now appear.
- Type in your Username *(You must use your standard username, e.g. 1234567 - NOT your @sun.ac.za email-account credentials).
- The 'Domain' option: STB
- Type in your Password.
- Once successfully logged in, release your documents for print
PRINTING TIPS!
How to print ONE-sided
The print setting is automatically set on TWO-sided print, for ONE-sided print:
- Select Print
- Click on Properties (Top left corner of the print box)
- Click Finishing
- Untick: Print both sides
- Select OK
- Select OK
How to print in COLOR
The print setting is automatically set Grey scale.
- Select Print
- Click on Properties (Top left corner of the print box)'
- Under the 'Color tab', untick Grey scale option
Printing problems?
- If you experience a problem to print a online document, Download and Save the document which you want to print on your own SUNstorage network space or to your Flashdisk, and Open from the Saved location and click the Print option.
- ALWAYS do a Print, Preview (and check for any Page-breaks which can resulted in blank print pages) before you press Print.
