Step 3. Install Java Software Dependencies
Please note: If using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and DSpace versions => 4.2, then check: http://wiki.lib.sun.ac.za/index.php/SUNScholar/Upgrading/DSpace/Release_Notes/4.X#Java_Version_Upgrade
Step 3.1: Install Java
*** Please ensure you have enabled the Ubuntu partner repositories before continuing. ***
- Note: With the Tomcat install, during installation, using "tasksel", the "default-jre" was installed.
Type as follows:
sudo apt-get install default-jdk
List the Java alternatives by typing as follows:
sudo update-java-alternatives -l
You should get something like the following
java-1.6.0-openjdk-amd64 1061 /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-amd64
Step 3.2: Install Ant
Type as follows:
sudo apt-get install ant ant-optional
