Step 3. Installation

It is fairly easy to install the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server software.

However it is good best practice to develop installation skills on a test server first, before doing a production server installation.

Below are screenshots of the most important parts of the installation.

• Use the "TAB" key and arrow keys to move between items.
• Use the "SPACE" key to select items.
• Use the "ENTER" key to activate controls/buttons.

Hostname

Hostname setup. Type in the hostname of the server. Take careful note of hostname selection in Step 2.

Disk Partitioning

/dev/sda1 = / - is the root/system partition. /dev/sda2 = is the swap partition and is not listed. /dev/sda3 = /var - is the partition where the database and log files are stored. /dev/sda4 = /home - is the partition where the DSpace application and assetstore are located.

DSpace User

	Enter full name of "DSpace User"
	Enter username of dspace
	Enter "dspace" user password.
	Confirm "dspace" user password.

Install Software

Select the following for installation: OpenSSH server PostgreSQL database Tomcat Java server
