DSpace 1.7.2 installation using Ubuntu 10.04
The following wiki pages describe the procedures to install a "vanilla" DSpace instance using an Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server.
Using the LTS version of Ubuntu is very highly reccomended.
It is vitally essential to follow the steps by number as shown below.
Step 1: Install Ubuntu
Click on the heading above.
Step 2: Prepare Ubuntu
Click on the heading above.
Step 3: Install DSpace
Click on the heading above.
Warning:
If you use the above procedures to setup a production machine open to the Internet, then ensure the following.
- Change ALL instances of the default "dspace" password to a very secure secret password.
- Change ALL instances of the default "dspace" username to another username, except for the main Ubuntu "dspace" account created during the server installation.
